Boathouse Rules

1. Each tenant is entitled only to the rack(s) they are assigned by the Boathouse Manager, as well as storage of oars and slings (generally defined as one set of oars per seat, and one set of slings per boat).

2. Any additional storage (for tools/equipment/cox-boxes/etc) may be arranged with the Boathouse Manager but is not guaranteed.

3) Club and private boats and rack space shall not be subleased without permission of the OPCBH Board. Possible subtenancy will first be reviewed by the Boathouse Manager and by the Board.

4) Clubs and private tenants can arrange between them for occasional loan of equipment, such as during a regatta. If this occasional equipment loan becomes regular or frequent, then the participants shall bring this to the attention of the Boathouse Manager for approval. The Manager may forward such requests to the OPCB Board.

5. No tenant (club or private) should disturb or move equipment they do not have explicit permission to use or move, except in such cases when that equipment is blocking access to their own, in which case they may move the equipment enough to gain access and should return it when their own use is done.

6. All tenants should strive to make sure their placement of boats in the bays does not block access to other boats (eg, boats left in slings).

7. When on the water the bay doors should be closed and locked to protect the property of all tenants. Slings may be left out for small boats if needed.

8. Please close the bay doors, turn off lights, and lock the facility if no one else is using the Facility.

9. All trash should be disposed of in the appropriate receptacles. If a trash can is full and needs to be emptied, please notify the Boathouse Manager.

10. Report any damage or maintenance needs promptly to the Boathouse Manager.

Dock Rules

1. The dock is for launching and landing only. Tying up launches should be minimized and only as necessary in high current.

2. The Boathouse Manager will maintain a master dock schedule. This schedule will indicate when the clubs at the OPCB have practice and will be used to avoid conflict. Tenants are expected to follow the schedule.

3. Coaches of clubs should communicate with each other on their scheduled launch window and return window, and work together to avoid conflicts. If agreements cannot be reached, then the Boathouse Manager will mediate. If issues cannot be resolved, the OPCB Board of Directors will make a decision based on the best interests of the tenants. The ruling of the Board of Directors will be final.

4. When not scheduled, the dock will be accessed on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

5. Boats launching should wait in line on the ramp and move to the dock in order, with the exception that small boats able to launch on the inside of the dock may bypass big boats that cannot.

6. Boats landing on the dock should line up downstream and dock as space becomes available, with the exception that small boats able to land on the inside of the dock may bypass big boats that cannot.

7. Generally, boats returning to the dock will have priority over boats launching.

8. Oars and other equipment should be removed from the dock as quickly as possible to avoid a tripping hazard.

Erg Room

1. The Boathouse Manager will maintain a master schedule for the erg room.

2. A club has exclusive use of the erg room during their scheduled practice time.

3.  The erg room will not be available for unaffiliated tenants or outside of organized practice times.

4. Tenants may only use their own equipment, with certain exceptions below.

5. The rowing machines and weight equipment in the erg room are the property of Oregon Rowing Unlimited. Tenants may only use the ergometers, squat rack, bench press, and multi-lift machines with prior permission from ORU directors; the bench pull equipment and leg-press machine are unique so these items may only be used by Oregon Rowing Unlimited Juniors.

Club Members

1. Each club shall be expected to communicate the Boathouse Rules to their active members. At the Boathouse Managers’ request, a current list of active members shall be provided. Club members who are not active shall not use the boathouse facilities.

2. Individuals have the right to choose their own club affiliations. That said, it shall be considered in extremely bad taste to actively recruit current members of another club located in the OPCB. Repeatedly doing so may be grounds for ejection from the boathouse.
