Boathouse Mission and News

The Oaks Park Boathouse was founded in 1989 and managed until 2015 by Oregon Rowing Unlimited (ORU) and is home to four club programs; ORU, Willamette Rowing Club, Lewis & Clark College Crew, and Portland Kayak and Canoe Team.

The Oaks Park Community Boathouse (OPCB), an Oregon Nonprofit incorporated by the four clubs resident in the boathouse, took over management January of 2016 and has as its mission the effective and ongoing management of the Boathouse, supporting the mission of the four founding clubs, providing a home for private rowers and paddlers, and the improvement of the facility and dock for the benefit of all boathouse tenants.

OPCB has contracted with Lewis & Clark College crew to provide day-to-day management of the boathouse.  Please contact the boathouse manager for information about rack rentals or questions about the facilities.

News and Announcements

With the return of the Fall Season both the ORU Juniors and Lewis & Clark College Crew will be practicing in the afternoons. The dock schedule has been updated with tentative practice times; please be aware of busy times at the dock.

Additionally, the fall traditionally means low water when the tide is out; be aware of the depth near the dock, and especially use caution on the downstream edge of the dock; it's wise to launch facing upstream and row away from the dock towards the Sellwood Bridge.

This page can give you a rough idea of high vs. low tide- the variation is over four feet, and the times of high and low tides fluctuate daily- don't take the water depth for granted!

The Oaks Park Boathouse Bash is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th- join us for a fun row or informal race and potluck breakfast.
